7 stud poker is one of the oldest variations of the game and is available at casinos all over the world. The game is very easy to learn and is also very entertaining. Every player would receive two cards face down which are the hole cards and the door card would be dealt face up. The dealer would distribute three more face up cards to all players and another card face down. Any player who has the highest five card hand would be the winner.

The game is quite simple but there are a few basic concepts which you would have to understand before you start playing for real money.

The Ante

Even before the cards are dealt to the players, the game starts with the antes. Of course, choosing the right table is an important strategy in seven stud like in all poker variations. Unlike the other poker variations, there is an ante in 7 card stud game. The ante could be either low or even very high depending on where you are playing. Those who are tight players should choose the tables where the antes are low and vice versa.

The Basic Rules of the Game

Given below are the basic rules of how Seven card stud game progresses on PokerStars.de. After each round of dealing cards, there would be a betting round:

· Two face down cards would first be dealt to all the players along with one face up card.

· Another card would be dealt to all players face up.

· The second card which would be dealt to players would be face up.

· The third face up card would be dealt to all the players.

· The fourth card dealt to all the players would be face down.

· Players would now have seven cards with them, 3 hidden and four showing.

· At the showdown the best hand would win the game.

Bringing In

An interesting part of seven card stud on PokerStars.net is the Bringing It In rule where either the high card or the low card showing would have to bring the first bet. If the game is for low card bringing in the bet, then the lowest showing card would have to put in the first bet. On the other hand another variation could be the highest card bringing it in. Both these games are appropriate for different types of playing styles so you should choose the game accordingly.

The split Pairs and Concealed Pairs

In seven card stud there can be two different types of pairs which are not seen in other poker variations. The pairs which are concealed would be the hole cards which are concealed from the other players. A player would have a split pair when one of the cards is face down and the other one is face up making a pair. In the game, the concealed pairs would be more powerful since the opponents would not be able to guess these hands.
